Getting there and leaving

Please contact Eirlys (eirlys@farmgarden.org.uk) to say what time and where your delegation will be arriving and leaving. This is so that we can make arrangements for the minibus.

Getting there - Wednesday 10 September

Where you need to go:

You need to register at the accommodation, Halifax Hall - see Number 8 on bottom left on Central Sheffield map. Please arrive from 1pm - 6pm

If you are arriving by bus or train:

There will be a shuttle service running between the main train station (194 on the right of the map) and Halifax Hall. If you are arriving by bus or coach, make your way from the bus station (191 on the right of the map) to the front of the train station. The shuttle will operate every 30 minutes from 1pm - 6pm. Please tell us if you will arrive later than this.

Leaving - Sunday 14 September

Rooms will need to be vacated by 10am.

If you are leaving Sheffield by bus or train:

There will be another shuttle service to the train station from 9.30am until 11.30am.



Getting to Sheffield, UK

This information is to get you to Sheffield in general - exact locations of the accommodation and other conference venues will be sent to you closer to the time.

We encourage delegates to travel by the most environmental method that you can. Thank you.

Please remember:
  • Check your train times Approximate train times to Sheffield are shown. We have not been able to test this information out ourselves, so please check before booking. For exact train times go to www.nationalrail.co.uk . Trains on Sundays (14 September) may be less frequent than other days of the week.
  • Don’t arrive too late - we hope that you will be able to arrive in Sheffield between 1pm and 6pm on Wednesday 10 September.
  • Don’t leave too early - The conference will finish on the evening of Saturday 13 September. You will be staying overnight, and the rooms will need to be empty by 10am on Sunday 14 September. (In other words, your return journey will need to be on Sunday 14 September)
  • Allow plenty of time - UK trains are often delayed!
  • Return Tickets are often much cheaper than two single tickets. Because of the variety of ticket types and prices, we have not included detailed price information. You could look at www.nationalrail.co.uk for ticket prices

Train - Eurostar
From Waterloo Station (Eurostar Terminal)
By underground. Get on the Jubilee line, change at Green Park. Transfer to Victoria Line to Kings cross/St Pancras Railway station. Approx 25 mns. . Direct Trains to Sheffield from St Pancras railway station. 2 hrs 30 approx.

Coach - Eurolines
From Victoria coach station
Short walk from Victoria Coach Station to Victoria underground station (situated just outside Victoria Train station). Get on Victoria line, direct train to Kings Cross/ St Pancras. Aprox 15 mns. . Direct Trains to Sheffield from St Pancras railway station. 2 hours 30 approx.

From Gatwick Airport
Gatwick train station is situated in the Airport. Non-direct trains to Sheffield. Aprox 4 hrs. Alternatively there is a non stop service to Victoria Station, Gatwick Express that takes 30 minutes. Transfer from Victoria to London Kings Cross/St Pancras by underground: Victoria line 15 minutes. Direct Trains to Sheffield from St Pancras railway station. 2 hrs 30 approx.

From Luton Airport
There is a free shuttle bus service to Luton airport parkway station, approx. 5 minutes. Non -direct trains to Sheffield, 1 to 3 changes.

Stansted railway station is situated below the terminal building. Non-direct trains to Sheffield 2 to 3 changes.

The Trent Barton Rainbow 58 connects the airport to Long Eaton railway station in ½ hr. Trains to Sheffield.

The Underground runs from all the terminals. Direct service to Kings Cross/St Pancras on Picadilly line. Approx 60 mins. . Direct Trains to Sheffield from St Pancras railway station. 2 hrs 30 approx.

From Leeds Airport
The LBA Airlink 757 bus links the Airport to the railway station. Transfer time from airport the to the City is around 20 - 30 minutes. Direct trains to Sheffield take approx 1 hr.

Skylinks connect the three airport terminals to the upper level of the railway station. Direct trains to Sheffield.

From Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Liverpool Express Bus Service No. 500 leaves from outside the entrance to the Airport Terminal. Buses go every 30 minutes between 05:15 and 00:15 calling at Liverpool Lime Street train station for direct train to Sheffield which takes 1 hr 40 mins.
